Student Creative Works, Research on Display April 5-7 at UNO

Omaha - Research projects and creative works by undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will be highlighted and celebrated at the third annual Student Research and Creative Activity Fair in April.

The fair is Tuesday, April 5, and Wednesday, April 6, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Milo Bail Student Center on the UNO campus. More than 100 posters, presentations and performances by UNO students will be on display for the campus community and the public.

Awards for this year’s best presentations will be announced at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in the Milo Bail Student Center Chancellor’s Room.

More than100 students from all levels – undergraduate, graduate and doctoral – will showcase their work during the two day event, including

• Communication students’ research on social media and civic engagement, radio localism and civic participation, and media framing and crisis management;
• research from UNO Biomechanics Lab, including gait and COPD, Multiple Sclerosis, and sitting development;
• results from geology students’ field research in the Badlands National Park, SD; and
• virtual learning and collaboration as explored by Information Technology students.

Hosted each year in conjunction with the UNO Honor’s Program Symposium, the fair celebrates the tradition of academic excellence on campus, said Scott Snyder, associate vice chancellor for Research and Creative Activity at UNO.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the campus and Omaha community to experience the exciting student scholarship happening at UNO,” Snyder said. “We welcome all students, faculty, staff and members of the Omaha community to attend and learn more about UNO’s outstanding student scholars and artists.”
