‘Dark Play or Stories for Boys’ Tickets On Sale Feb. 14

Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) Theatre Department will celebrate its first production of 2011 with a preview showing of “Dark Play or Stories for Boys” on Feb. 23 with tickets going on sale Monday, Feb. 14.

An additional preview showing will take place on Feb. 24 before official performances open on Feb. 25. Other showings include Feb. 26 and March 2 – 5 with the house opening at 7 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. curtain. All performances will take place in the UNO Theatre located in the Weber Fine Arts Building on campus.

The production, directed by Dr. Amy Lane, is an adaptation of a work written by Carlos Murillo that explores the volatile combination of new technologies and traditional coming-of-age issues like the difference between love and sex.

“Dark Play” is a “mind-bending thriller” that tells the story of 14-year-old Nick, who comes across a naively worded ad from 16-year-old Adam reading, "I want to fall in love." Already bored with cyber sex and posting fake online ads, Nick invents the girl of Adam's dreams, Rachel. However, as the cyber-relationship heightens, so do the emotional stakes in the real world, until the two collide with devastating consequences.

For tickets, visit www.unomaha.edu/unotheatre or call the box office at 402.554.PLAY. For the preview shows (Feb. 23, 24) tickets are only $5 for general admission with performance tickets costing $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors. All tickets are free to all UNO students who present a valid NUID and $5 for all other students who present a valid school ID.

Any questions about the event can be directed to Kathleen Lawler at uno.theatre.publicity@gmail.com or 402.554.3167.
