Stand-Up Comedy and Poetry Slam Event is Nov. 22
Omaha - Maverick Productions at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will host a comedy and slam poetry night featuring Dan Cummins, Kevin Shea and David Jarvis. The evening’s events will be held in the Milo Bail Student Center Maverick Lounge at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22.
Dan Cummins is making his Omaha debut, after recently signing with Creative Artists Industry. In 2000 Cummins started his stand up career performing at a comedy café. In 2001 he entered the Seattle Comedy competition and ranked second place. In 2005 Cummins performed at the "New Faces Showcase" at the Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival. The performance caught the eye of Comedy Central and the "Late, Late Show." In 2006 he performed his first televised stand-up on Comedy Central’s "Live at Gotham" and then soon after performed on the "Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson." In 2007 he recorded his first Comedy Night special.
Kevin Shea was originally born in Seoul, Korea, in 1981, and was later adopted by an American family. He moved to San Francisco in 2000 where he discovered stand up comedy. In 2002, he performed his first open mic. He has had many television appearances ranging from Comedy Central’s "Premium Blend," "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and HBO’s "Down and Dirty." In 2009 he won NBC’s "Stand Up For Diversity Showcase" and was showcased at the 2010 NACA National Conference.
David Jarvis is a member of the Omaha Slam Poetry team.
