Vincent Edward Giunta Exhibition at UNO Art Gallery

Omaha - Works by Vincent Edward Giunta (1934–2007) are also on display Friday, Aug. 27 through Thursday, Sept. 23, at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Art Gallery.

The public is invited to a free opening reception at the gallery on Friday, Aug. 27, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Giunta began painting at age 15. He studied studio art at City College of New York (CCNY) while he worked as a draftsman in the New Jersey and New York area, earning a bachelor of arts degree in 1975.

Works presented in the UNO exhibit were completed during the early sixties through the mid-seventies, with the exception of the “Button” series painted between 2005 and 2007.

Giunta exhibited in regional venues including Artexpo New York, the Ringwood (NJ) Manor Annual, the Bronx Artist Guild Exhibitions, Washington Square (NY) Annual, Westchester (NY) Outdoor Show and the Bergen County (NJ) Art Exhibit.

He was awarded a purchase prize by CCNY and garnered two first prizes, a second place and an honorable mention award from the Ringwood Manor Association of the Arts. His work is held by several private collectors.

The Vincent Edward Giunta exhibition is sponsored by Louis Pol, dean of the College of Business Administration and nephew of the artist, and Gail Baker, dean of the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media.

The UNO Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Weber Fine Arts Building on the UNO campus, 6001 Dodge St. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. In addition, appointments at other times are encouraged. All events are free and open to the public, and the gallery is accessible to people with disabilities. The gallery is closed on Labor Day.
