New Student Theatre Group Debuts Original Production July 28-31
Omaha - The Collective Unconscious Theatre, in conjunction with University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), will debut its new organization with the premiere of invisibles, which closely examines capitalist society, exploitation and the working poor.
Written by UNO creative writing student Joe Fogarty, invisibles runs Wednesday, July 28 through Saturday, July 31 in Room 006 in the Weber Fine Arts Building on the UNO campus. The Weber Fine Arts Building is west of UNO’s Criss Library.
Doors open at 7 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. curtain call for all performances.
invisibles is directed by Julia Hinson, a UNO theatre graduate student, and features design work from Hali Barber, Zach Cook, Amy Schweid, Beth Thompson and other UNO students.
Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the door. Attendees who bring a canned food item can purchase tickets for $6. The collected food will be donated to the Omaha Food Bank.
The Collective Unconscious Theatre aims to unite all young professionals of all artistic bents to collaborate, create and perform in the spirit of social change. The group is organized and managed by UNO students and welcomes anyone interested in theatre.
invisibles, their first show, is being produced with the hopes that funds from ticket sales can be put toward applying for non-profit status for the theatre. The Collective Unconscious hopes to become a permanent place for students to come together, grow and test their skills in a professional environment.
