UNO Theatre Presents The Fantasticks! April 14-24

Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Department of Theatre presents The Fantasticks!, directed by Doug Paterson. Previews run April 14-15 with performances on April 16-17 and April 21-24 in the UNO Theatre at the Weber Fine Arts Building on the UNO campus. The house opens at 7 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. curtain for all performances. The preview on April 14 will be a TAG Night Out.

An opening reception in the theatre’s lobby is planned after the April 16. UNO students will interpret the April 21 production in American Sign Language, and a talk back session is planned following the production on April 23.

The Fantasticks! is known for being the longest running musical in the world. At the heart of its poetry and theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be fresh and moving to each generation. The company of The Fantasticks! invites audience members to take part in UNO’s highly original interpretation of a timeless classic. UNO’s box office is located on the first floor of the Weber Fine Arts Building.

For previews, tickets are $5. For performances, ticket prices are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors. Tickets are free for all UNO students who present a valid UNO ID, $5 for all non-UNO students who present a valid school ID. Tickets can be reserved by calling (402) 554-PLAY.

A Fantastick Fifties Costume Contest
The UNO Department of Theatre presents a fifties-themed costume contest in honor of the upcoming musical, The Fantasticks! Students, faculty and staff can showcase their best fifties garb for an afternoon of singing, sock-hopping and fun. Costumes will be judged in a variety of categories; prizes will be awarded.

This event is scheduled for Friday, April 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the plaza outside of UNO’s Milo Bail Student Center. If inclement weather occurs, the event will be held at the Fireplace Lounge inside the Milo Bail Student Center.
