Wheelchair Test Drive is April 8 at UNO
Omaha - Students, faculty and staff are invited to experience life on wheels in a wheelchair test drive on Thursday, April 8 at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
From 9 a.m. to noon, members of the UNO Network for disABLED Students will offer individuals the opportunity to navigate campus in a wheelchair: from the Milo Bail Student Center Plaza, through Roskens Hall, and back.
At noon, participants can hear from Ms. Wheelchair USA 2009, Kate Matelan. As a Pennsylvania college student bound to a wheelchair, Matelan will discuss her experiences from noon to 1 p.m. at the Milo Bail Student Center Plaza. Free food will be served to those who participate in the wheelchair test drive and stay to listen to Matelan’s presentation.
A quadriplegic since an auto accident when she was 5, Matelan is a management major at Bucknell University. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school and work in New York City’s fashion industry.
For more information, contact Maida Avdic, UNO Network for disABLED Students, at (402) 554-2368.
