Last Finalist for Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Creative Activity to Interview on Campus Feb. 11 -12

Omaha - The last finalist for the position of University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Creative Activity (AVCRCA) will be on campus for interviews later this week. The person selected will have leadership and administrative responsibility for promoting and growing research and creative activity, helping to attract external funds, and serving as liaison for these activities with all UNO colleges/divisions and other research-partner institutions.

The final candidate is Lloyd Richardson, director, Office of Research and External Funding, College of Education, acting director of Research, College of Nursing and Curator’s Teaching Professor in Education and Mathematic, University of Missouri-St. Louis. He will visit campus on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 11-12. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend a campus forum with Richardson on Friday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Dodge Room.

The other three candidates who have completed their campus visit and interviews are:

• Scott Snyder, program director, Division of Environmental Biology National Science Foundation in Arlington, VA, and professor, Department of Biology at UNO;

• Nicholas Stergiou, professor, School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at UNO, and professor, Department of Environmental Health Sciences University of Nebraska Medical Center; and

• Scott Tarry, director, Aviation Institute and distinguished professor at UNO, and director, NASA Nebraska Space Grant and EPSCoR.

Specific AVCRCA responsibilities include oversight of the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research, facilitation of connections with extramural sponsors, oversight of an internal seed-grant program, representation on University system and statewide research bodies, oversight and development of campus compliance and research and creative activity related policies, and stewardship of University intellectual property.

Faculty, staff, and students are strongly encouraged to participate in the multiple forums provided and provide feedback.
