Second Finalist for Assoc. Vice Chancellor for Research and Creative Activity to Interview Feb. 4-5

Omaha - The third of four finalists for the position of UNO Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Creative Activity (AVCRCA) will be on campus for interviews Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 8-9. The person selected for the AVCRA position will have leadership and administrative responsibility for promoting and growing research and creative activity, helping to attract external funds, and serving as liaison for these activities with all UNO colleges/divisions and other research-partner institutions.

The third candidate is Nicholas Stergiou, professor, School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at UNO, and professor, Department of Environmental Health Sciences University of Nebraska Medical Center. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend an open forum with Stergiou on Monday, Feb. 8, at 2:30 p.m. in the Mil Bail Student Center Chancellor's Room.

The remaining candidate to visit campus is Lloyd Richardson, director, Office of Research and External Funding, College of Education, acting director of Research, College of Nursing and Curator's Teaching Professor in Education and Mathematic, University of Missouri-St. Louis. He will be at UNO on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 11-12.

The candidates who have completed their campus interviews are:

• Scott Tarry, director, Aviation Institute and distinguished professor at UNO, and director, NASA Nebraska Space Grant and EPSCoR; and

• Scott Snyder, program director, Division of Environmental Biology National Science Foundation in Arlington, Va., and professor, Department of Biology at UNO..m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Dodge Room.

Specific AVCRCA responsibilities include oversight of the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research, facilitation of connections with extramural sponsors, oversight of an internal seed-grant program, representation on University system and statewide research bodies, oversight and development of campus compliance and research and creative activity related policies, and stewardship of University intellectual property. Faculty, staff, and students are strongly encouraged to participate in the multiple forums provided and provide feedback.

This schedule includes forums with groups such as the Faculty Senate and chairs and directors. The search committee needs and desires feedback from all campus constituencies.
