Arts and Sciences Speaker Series Continues Dec. 3 with English Lecture

Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) College of Arts and Sciences Centennial Speaker Series continues Thursday, Dec. 3, with a lecture by Marc Manganaro, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Gonzaga University since 2007.  His talk will begin at 7 p.m. in the William H. and Dorothy Thompson Alumni Center.

Manganaro, an Omaha native, will present "The Road from Omaha: Reflections on a Life in the Not-So-Ivory Tower." The event and following reception are free and open to the public.

After receiving his bachelor of arts in English degree summa cum laude from UNO in 1977, Manganaro went on to earn a master of arts degree from San Francisco State University in 1979 and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1985.  He has served on a number of professional boards and organizations and published numerous articles and reviews.  Manganaro lectures at events across the nation and has received several fellowships and grants.  He is an honorary member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the honor society of Jesuit institutions of higher education.

The yearlong speaker series is part of the UNO College of Arts and Sciences' centennial celebration, which highlights the college's many departments and alumni.  Established in 1909, Arts and Sciences is the university's first college and largest academic unit.
