Documentary on UNO’s Centennial Earns National Award
Omaha - The UNO Television production “UNO 100: Central to our City” recently received a Silver Davey award in the History/Biography category.
The Davey Awards are sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA), an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed media, advertising and marketing firms. IAVA members include executives from organizations such as Coach, Disney, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Estee Lauder, HBO, Keller Crescent, Monster.com, MTV, Polo Ralph Lauren and several others.
“UNO 100: Central to our City” spotlights 100 years of growth for the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) through historic photos and interview clips in three parts: campus growth, academic development and university life.
The documentary is narrated by Otis XII, Cheril Lee and Dave Webber, and features interviews with Chancellor Emeritus Del Weber, Nebraska First Lady Sally Ganem and UNO Assistant Athletic Director Connie Claussen.
Mike Pacholski, a producer/director with UNO Television, produced the program with help from other members of UNO Television.
“Constructing the story was long and arduous for Mike, but he kept working on the project with a 'never say die' attitude,” said Jim Adams, assistant general manager for UNO Television. “Mike developed a true appreciation for the historical material and photographs.”
Added Robert Franklin, director of Media Operations for UNO Television and KVNO: “We are extremely proud of this recognition for UNO Television and Mike Pacholski. His work exemplifies excellence and professionalism of the highest caliber. We congratulate Mike on a job well done.”
DVD copies of "UNO 100: Central to our City" are available for $10 at the UNO Bookstore (first floor of the Milo Bail Student Center) and the offices UNO Television (College of Public Affairs and Community Service Building, Room 200).
