First Midnight Mojo Event is Oct. 23

Omaha - Midnight Mojo is a new student event happening at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Friday, Oct. 23, from 9 p.m. to midnight.

The late-night program will offer a number of activities designed to give students the opportunity to socialize and have fun during the evening hours without alcohol.

“We developed the Midnight Mojo event to add to a fun, comprehensive prevention program for our students,” said Nate Bock, an alcohol and drug counselor at UNO. “Late night programming, policy, policy enforcement, peer education, brief intervention programs and community partnerships are all part of a comprehensive system for preventing underage and binge drinking by college students.”

The free event is open to all UNO students and will be held at the Maverick Village clubhouse on the west end of campus.

Free food and prizes are part of Midnight Mojo, as well as bobbing for apples, a candy corn walk, pumpkin carving and outdoor laser tag.

"Midnight Mojo is another great programming opportunity for our students to socialize and feel connected to UNO,” said Bill Pickett, managing director of Maverick Village. “These types of programs will continue to make UNO a more residential campus.”

Additional Midnight Mojo events are planned for later this fall and next spring. For more information, contact Pickett at wpickett@unomaha.edu or (402) 554-4001.
