Criss Library Welcomes Children's Art Exhibition
Omaha - Artwork by students from the GBT (Growing and Building Together) Academy of the Arts in Omaha is on display at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Criss Library through Saturday, Sept. 12.
"He's Got the World World in His Hands" showcases pieces by students ages 5 to 13. The preservation of nature and the use of recycling in creating art is the exhibition's focus. Materials commonly used in dump sites and recycling centers were transformed into pieces of art.
The GBT Academy of the Arts equips area youth with
the character values of leadership, respect, discipline, perseverance and teamwork through diverse forms of artistic expression that develops the whole individual, transitioning them through the performing stage to the stage of life.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The celebration recognizes the partnership among the City of Omaha, its citizens and UNO to build a vibrant and dynamic community. The centennial theme is UNO: Central To Our City Since 1908. This theme acknowledges the past contributions of UNO to the community and sets the stage for great things to come. UNO, inaugurated in 1968, emerged from the Municipal University of Omaha, established in 1931, which grew out of the University of Omaha founded in 1908.
