Athletic Director Candidate to Visit Campus April 21-22

Omaha - University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Chancellor John Christensen announced today that Trev Alberts, one of the recommended candidates being considered for the university’s athletic director position, will visit campus Tuesday and Wednesday, April 21 and 22.

Alberts has worked as a television and print college football commentator and analyst. While at UNO he will meet with various campus groups, community groups, student athletes and Christensen. A campus community and public forum will take place Tuesday, April 21, in the Milo Bail Student Center’s Ballroom starting at 4 p.m.

“At this point in the process, it’s very important to get input and listen to all the people who care about UNO Athletics and our university,” Christensen said. “We need the right person in place to lead the department forward. I’ve said it before –UNO’s athletic excellence offers a tremendous opportunity to someone.”

For more information, call (402) 554-3502.

NOTE: The media can--and are encouraged to--attend the campus community and public forum set for Tuesday. This will be the only campus-sponsored media opportunity. Meetings that Alberts will have Tuesday and Wednesday with various groups will be private sessions and not open.

UNO is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The celebration recognizes the partnership among the City of Omaha, its citizens and UNO to build a vibrant and dynamic community. The centennial theme is “UNO: Central To Our City Since 1908.” This theme acknowledges the past contributions of UNO to the community and sets the stage for great things to come.

UNO, inaugurated in 1968, emerged from the Municipal University of Omaha, established in 1931, which grew out of the University of Omaha founded in 1908. For Centennial information, go to http://www.unomaha.edu/100/.
