Sorority Recruitment Kicks Off Aug. 18

Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Panhellenic recruitment team will host its formal sorority recruitment week Monday, Aug. 18 through Saturday, Aug. 23. The event will take place in the ballroom on the second floor of the Milo Bail Student Center at UNO.

Area women who are currently, or plan to be, enrolled as college freshmen, sophomores or juniors at UNO this fall are encouraged to register online for an opportunity to learn more about how to become a part of the Greek community.

“We’re very excited to welcome some new girls to the Greek community,” said Emilee Harvey, head of the recruitment team at UNO. “We believe that for many women, joining a sorority is not only an incredible way to make new friends, but provides an opportunity to get involved in various philanthropic efforts and develop and grow on a personal level.”

The UNO Panhellenic council is the governing body of the national sorority chapters on campus. For more information about sorority recruitment and to register, visit the UNO Greek Life Web site at www.unomaha.edu/greeklife/.

UNO will celebrate its 100th anniversary beginning October 8, 2008. This celebration will recognize the partnership among the City of Omaha, its citizens and UNO to build a vibrant and dynamic community. The centennial theme is “UNO: Central To Our City Since 1908.” This theme acknowledges the past contributions of UNO to the community and sets the stage for great things to come.

UNO, inaugurated in 1968, emerged from the Municipal University of Omaha, established in 1931, which grew out of the University of Omaha founded in 1908. For Centennial information, go to http://www.unomaha.edu/100/.
