UNO Hosts Summer School Program for Middle School Students
Omaha - For the third year, the College of Education, in collaboration with University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) faculty, staff and students, will host part of the summer school program for Lewis and Clark Middle School this week.
Through Friday, 75 students will participate in a variety of activities on campus designed to increase awareness of post-secondary education, consider educational choices today for higher education opportunities and make them familiar with the UNO community.
The event culminates with a commencement ceremony on Friday.
“It is a privilege to have these young scholars and their teachers on our campus,” said Connie Schaffer, College of Education Office of Student Services. “This is a chance for us to connect with the middle school staff, students and our colleagues across campus. More importantly, it allows young people to connect the choices they make today to future educational opportunities.”
For more information and a schedule of events, contact Schaffer at (402) 554-3096 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
UNO will celebrate its 100th anniversary beginning October 8, 2008. This celebration will recognize the partnership among the City of Omaha, its citizens and UNO to build a vibrant and dynamic community. The centennial theme is “UNO: Central To Our City Since 1908.” This theme acknowledges the past contributions of UNO to the community and sets the stage for great things to come.
UNO, inaugurated in 1968, emerged from the Municipal University of Omaha, established in 1931, which grew out of the University of Omaha founded in 1908. For Centennial information, go to http://www.unomaha.edu/100/.
