Metheny to Perform June 20 at Omaha Jazz Workshop Summer Camp

Omaha - Trumpeter Mike Metheny will perform Friday, June 20, with the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Faculty Jazz Combo and students from the Omaha Jazz Workshop summer camp. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.

Metheny is a former faculty member of the Berklee College of Music (Boston), where he taught trumpet, music theory and improvisation. He is the recipient of the Boston Music Awards Outstanding Brass Player Award. He also has appeared on numerous jazz recordings as a sideman and recorded eight albums as a leader. Currently, Metheny is a freelance performer, educator and music journalist in the Kansas City area.

Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at the door. The Omaha Jazz Workshop, UNO Department of Music and Thompson Music are sponsoring the event.
