March 30 5-K Run to Benefit Williams Scholarship Fund
Omaha - A 5-K run set for Sunday, March 30, at Elmwood Park will benefit the Brittany Williams Scholarship Fund. The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Greek Week committee has organized the event.
Details and registration information is available online at www.raiseawarenessomaha.org. The race, the “Violence Awareness Run,” fee is $15, and registrations will take place the day of the run starting at noon. The race starts at 1 p.m. Participants will receive t-shirts and free food and refreshments will be available. Children under 10 can take part for free.
Sponsors for the event include Cotton’s Woodfired Grill (food) and Greek Creations/Corporate Creations (t-shirts). “This is a great event, a positive event that will help future students,” said Patrick Dickes, Greek Week advisor. “The student organizers have done a terrific job.” For more information, call 554-2711.
UNO will celebrate its 100th anniversary beginning October 8, 2008. This celebration will recognize the partnership among the City of Omaha, its citizens and UNO to build a vibrant and dynamic community. The centennial theme is "UNO: Central To Our City Since 1908." This theme acknowledges the past contributions of UNO to the community and sets the stage for great things to come.
UNO, inaugurated in 1968, emerged from the Municipal University of Omaha, established in 1931, which grew out of the University of Omaha founded in 1908. For Centennial information, go to http://www.unomaha.edu/100/.
