UNO Low Brass Day Set for Feb. 5
Omaha - High school students from over 70 schools will participate in the eighth annual Low Brass Choir event at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
This instructional event is scheduled to take place Tuesday, Feb. 5 for students and their families. A free, public concert will be the finale of the educational day at 5 p.m. in the Strauss Performing Arts Center. All events will be held at Strauss and the Milo Bail Student Center on UNO’s campus.
The event will consist of clinics and tutorials, directed by several guest musicians and UNO faculty. High school students who have excelled at specific low brass instruments will experience first-hand training with tenured musicians.
Highlighted sections of the day include a performance by Radegundis Feitosa, a famous trombonist from Brazil, and the Continental Trombone Quartet (CTQ). After the performance, a master class for students with Feitosa prepares the group for the evening concert. The free, public concert is the capstone for the day and will feature participating students, the CTQ and the UNO Low Brass Ensemble.
