Hatz Memorial Scholarships Awarded to Art and Art History Students

Omaha - Six University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Department of Art and Art History students received Bertha Mengedoht Hatz Memorial Scholarship Awards at the opening reception of the 2008 UNO Art Student Exhibition Jan. 25.

Josh Powell received highest honors with his work “Making Honey.” Laurie Sewell received honors with “Venice #1 and #2.” Dorothy Dean, Jess Miller, Kate Taucreti and Molly Vavra received honorable mentions for their artworks. Taucreti also received a scholarship for her installation “Daydreamer,” featured in the Hexagon Installation Program.

The 2008 UNO Art Student Exhibition is on view at the UNO Art Gallery through Saturday, Feb. 16. The UNO Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Weber Fine Arts Building. The exhibitions are free, handicapped accessible and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday noon to 4 p.m.; Thursday noon to 8 p.m.; and Saturday 1 to 4 p.m.
