UNO Student Government Swearing-in Ceremony Jan. 15
Omaha - The new leaders of student government at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will take the oath of office Tuesday, Jan. 15.
Lucas Seiler was elected student body president/regent and Buey Ruet was elected student body vice president in elections held last fall. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 12:30 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Ballroom.
Donal Burns, associate executive vice president and provost for the University of Nebraska, will conduct the ceremony for Seiler. Jessica Coufal, UNO student court chief justice, will swear in Ruet.
An informal reception will be held following the ceremony, and the campus community is invited to attend.
Seiler is a junior majoring in bioinformatics with a minor in Spanish. A member of the UNO Honors Program, he is active with the Scott Scholar Focus Group, the Emerging Leaders Program, Who's Who Among College Students, Omicron Delta Kappa and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Seiler previously served as a Student Government senator for the College of Information Science and Technology and was a member of the budget committee.
Ruet is a senior political science major. At UNO, he has been a member of the forensics team and served as a student senator for the College of Arts and Sciences. He also oversees Aqua-Africa, a nonprofit organization that drills water wells for developing nations, and works as an assistant to a district executive of outreach for Mid America Conical.
