Noren Everts Accepts Vice President Position at Illinois State
Omaha - Illinois State University has named Sheri Noren Everts, University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) interim senior vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, its next vice president for Academic Affairs and provost. Dr. Noren Everts will start her new appointment on July 1 in Normal, Ill.
Noren Everts began her tenure at UNO in 1994 as a faculty member in the Department of Teacher Education. She became a full professor in 2004. In 2000, she was named assistant to the vice chancellor for Academic Affairs. Her promotion to assistant vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs came in 2003 and to associate vice chancellor in 2004.
In 2006, Noren Everts was appointed acting vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs before being named interim senior vice chancellor in June 2007.
Noren Everts received her bachelor's degree in English and secondary education, master's degree in literacy education and English and doctorate in administration, curriculum and instruction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
"Dr. Noren Everts rose to the top of a highly competitive and selective search process that included broad participation from the campus (Illinois State) community," said Illinois State University President Al Bowman.
"Leaving UNO will be very difficult for me," Noren Everts said. "The faculty, staff and students have made my 13 years on campus extremely enjoyable and professionally satisfying. This has been a wonderful time and experience in my life."
