"Hockey 101 for Women" Dec. 6 at Qwest Center Omaha

The "Hockey 101 for Women" event planned for Thursday, Dec. 6, has been cancelled.

Due to inclement weather, the University of Nebraska at Omaha's (UNO) “Hockey 101 for Women” scheduled for tonight, Dec. 6, has been cancelled. No reschedule date has been set, and registration fees will be refunded to participants.

For more information, call (402) 554-3422.

Omaha - Hockey enthusiasts will have a chance to learn about the inner workings of the University of Nebraska at Omaha's (UNO) Maverick hockey while benefiting several causes Thursday, Dec. 6, during "Hockey 101 for Women." This is the third time UNO has hosted the event - a fundraiser for the Diet Pepsi/UNO Women's Walk and Liz's Legacy - at Qwest Center Omaha.

During "Hockey 101," participants can meet the team, go behind the scenes and see the action from the players' points of view. Sign-in begins at 4:30 p.m., and the event will conclude at approximately 9 p.m.

The $75 per person registration fee includes dinner with the UNO Maverick hockey team and coaches, free parking for "Hockey 101," a long-sleeved "Hockey 101" T-shirt and one ticket to the UNO vs. Lake Superior State hockey series set for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7-8. In addition, the first 100 registered participants will receive the book Hockey for Dummies by John Davidson and John Steinbreder.

The Diet Pepsi/UNO Women's Walk funds scholarships for female student athletes at UNO. Liz's Legacy, named after Omaha community leader Liz Karnes, supports cancer research, education and patient care at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Eppley Cancer Center.

To register for "Hockey 101," contact Shirley Fey at (402) 554-3422 or sfey@mail.unomaha.edu. All registrations must be received by Thursday, Nov. 29.
