Poetry Reading and Book Signing Nov. 13 at UNO
Omaha - Michael Skau and Richard Wyatt will read their poetry Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Criss Library on the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) campus. This free and public event, which begins at 7 p.m., is sponsored by University Library Friends at UNO.
Skau and Wyatt will also sign copies of Nebraska Presence: An Anthology of Poetry, which features works by both writers. Attendees can also purchase calendars produced by University Library Friends for $5.
Skau, a professor in the UNO Department of English, has published a chapbook of poetry and books on Beat Generation poets Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Gregory Corso. He has had more than 90 poems appear in magazines and periodicals across the country. Skau holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Wyatt, associate editor of The Backwater Press, graduated from UNO with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing. He attended the University of Oregon where he held a teaching fellowship in poetry from 1980-81. A selection of his poems, Keepers of the River, was published by UNO in 1979, in a collection titled Annex 21 (once home to the Writer’s Workshop program). His poetry has appeared in numerous publications across the country.
