UNO Exhibit to Feature Armor, Weapons, Fashion on Oct. 18
Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will host an exhibition of armor and weaponry from the Anglo-Saxon era through to the late Renaissance on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The campus community and public are invited to this free event where they can see authentic reproductions of broad swords, shields, chain-mail armor, rapiers and other gear necessary for the well-turned out warrior. The display will take place in front of the Milo Bail Student Center.
Also available for viewing will be authentic reproductions of clothing and accessories from the medieval and early modern eras. Experts will discuss and answer questions about the history of fashion and weaponry. Light refreshments will be served. In case of rain, the event will be held on Friday, Oct. 19, at the same time and location.
The Medieval and Renaissance Studies Interdisciplinary Minor--in association with the Departments of Art History, English, and History at UNO—has organized the event. For more information about the event or Medieval and Renaissance Studies, contact Lisabeth Buchelt, assistant professor of medieval British and Irish literature at UNO, at (402) 554-2894.
