UNO Professor Receives Fulbright Scholar Appointment
Omaha- Ziaul Huq, a professor of management in the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) College of Business Administration (CBA), has received a Fulbright Scholar appointment.
While on sabbatical from UNO this spring, Dr. Huq will teach graduate level courses at two universities in Bangladesh. At Dhaka University, the largest and the most prestigious university in the country, he will offer doctoral and executive seminars on quality and strategic operations management. At Stamford University, one of the largest private universities of Bangladesh, he will teach core graduate and upper division courses in production and operations management.
In addition, Huq will work with faculty members to develop pedagogical techniques and curriculum. Although not a part of his Fulbright grant, Huq is also planning to conduct research on quality and process management in a developing economy.
The traditional Fulbright Scholar program sends just a few hundred U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. The scholars are selected through a rigorous application and review process. They lecture and conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields. The program is sponsored by the United States Department of State/Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars.
Huq has been a faculty member at UNO since 1987. He received his master’s in statistics from Dhaka University, Bangladesh, and his doctorate in operations management from the University of Kentucky. For more information, call (402) 554-3502.
