UNO Dean Named to National PR Task Force
Omaha - A national public relations group has appointed Gail F. Baker, dean of the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), to its newest task force.
The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) created the task force last month, which will explore the certification of public relations professionals across the country. It’s comprised of senior professionals representing a variety of disciplines and special interest areas among PRSA’s 32,000 professional and student members. UNO has a Public Relations Student Society of America chapter on campus that has received national recognition, as well.
Baker is an active and accredited PRSA member. She served on the Honors and Awards Committee, chaired the Individual Awards Committee and was chair of the Multicultural Section. She is also a member of the College of Fellows.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, her master’s from Roosevelt University and a doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Baker joined UNO last year from the University of Florida where she held numerous positions since 1995, including: vice president for public relations, director of communications, special assistant to the provost for academic communications, and chair and associate professor of public relations in the College of Journalism and Communications.
