UNO Students Celebrate Fall Semester at Welcome Week

Omaha - College students, live music, free food and even a dunk tank will fill the Henningson Memorial Plaza outside the Milo Bail Student Center (MBSC) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) later this month.

Welcome Week 2007 runs Aug. 27-30 at UNO. Fall classes start Monday, Aug. 27.

The annual event spans four days and features a variety of activities to welcome students – both new and returning – to the UNO campus for the fall semester. Activities occur daily from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m

“We love seeing our students fill the plaza during Welcome Week,” said Barb Janousek, director of Student Organizations and Leadership Programs at UNO. “Our event continues to grow every year, and it has become an exciting way to kick off not only a new semester, but a new school year, as well. We encourage all students to stop by during their first week on campus to see familiar faces, meet new ones, grab some free food and enjoy live music.”

Activities: Inflatable basketball and bicycle raffle

Tuesday, Aug. 28
Theme: Academic Excellence
Live music: Extra Space Jazz
Activities: K-2 Challenge and inflatable basketball

Wednesday, Aug. 29
Theme: Community Engagement
Live music: Ha Ha Tonka
Activities: Dunk tank and inflatable basketball

Thursday, Aug. 30
Theme: Clubs and Organizations Fair
Live music: Live DJ
Activities: Maverick cheer and dance teams perform, and inflatable basketball
