UNO Aviation Institute to Host AVI8ORS Fund-raising Concert
Omaha - A concert to honor military pilots of the past and present will take place at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Tuesday, July 17. The UNO Aviation Institute is a co-sponsor of "A Tribute to Freedom's Fliers," which will feature Omaha's AVI8ORS Ensemble. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Strauss Performing Arts Center.
The performance will honor the WWII-era Air Army Corps and modern day U.S. Air Force. Tickets will be available at the door for $10.
"If you've not heard the group before, The AVI8ORS perform a ‘true to life' WWII USO-style show with the vintage music of the 1940's big band era," said Robert Moser, Aviation Institute flight instructor.
Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning will speak at the concert and WOWT's Malorie Maddox will emcee.
The AVI8ORS will also perform at an international airshow and convention in Oshkosh, Wis., later this year. "A Tribute to Freedom's Fliers" is fully sponsored by various aviation organizations in Omaha, so all of the ticket sales will go to cover travel and production costs to get the group and its equipment to Wisconsin, Moser said.
"The concert on campus will be exactly like the one performed in Oshkosh so the folks back in the Omaha area can experience it too," Moser said. "If the concert is a sellout, more than $2,000 will also be donated to the nonprofit Omaha aviation group, EAA Chapter 80."
