UNO Fraternity and Sorority to Hold Financial Education Workshop
Omaha - A fraternity and sorority at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), together with the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Nebraska Inc., will present a free financial education workshop for citizens in the Omaha metropolitan area Saturday, June 30.
The event, “Where Did My Paycheck Go?,” will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First National Bank North Omaha Financial Service Office, 1701 N. 24th, Suite 105. Current members and alumni from Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority chapters are event sponsors and will be among the workshop presenters.
The morning session will focus on making effective money plans, simple ways to stretch dollars and budgeting, an introduction to banking services, how to keep track of money and investing basics.
“This workshop is just one example of the many community service activities conducted each year by students involved in Greek life at UNO,” said Sharif Liwaru, an adviser in UNO Student Organizations and Leadership Programs.
The morning sessions will be followed by a complimentary lunch and a question-and-answer period from noon to 1 p.m. The afternoon session will cover credit basics and understanding credit reports.
Those who pre-register for the event will be eligible to receive a free three-in-one credit report that can be analyzed by a banking professional. In addition, all registered attendees will be eligible to win one of three drawings for a prepaid Visa $25, $50 or $75 gift card. The registration deadline is June 26.
