Down Syndrome Parents Network Awards Scholarships to Two UNO Students

Omaha - Two University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) students are the first recipients of a pair of scholarships from the Omaha Down Syndrome Parents Network (ODSPN).

Tiffany Ackerman received a $250 award for undergraduate students majoring in special education. Ackerman is in her junior year in the Speech Language Pathology Program in the UNO College of Education (COE).

Tamara Bertino received a $500 award for graduate students majoring in or receiving a certificate in special education.  Bertino is pursuing a master’s degree in resource teaching/learning disabilities also in the UNO College of Education.  She is employed as a special education teacher in Glenwood, Iowa.
