April is Honors Month at UNO
Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is taking the time to recognize its own this April in conjunction with Honors Month 2007.
Three university-wide events will be spotlighted April 10-13. Numerous college, departmental and organizational events are also scheduled throughout the month.
“Faculty, students, staff, alumni and friends of the university are encouraged to participate in the many Honors Month events taking place that showcase and celebrate faculty, student and staff achievements,” said Deborah Smith-Howell, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs at UNO.
The schedule of university-wide events is listed below. All are free and open to the public.
Honors Symposia of Senior Theses
The University Honors Program will present the annual Honors Symposia of Senior Theses Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10 and 11. Both events will begin at 5 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center (MBSC) Ballroom.
The April 10 symposia will feature the work of seniors Andrew K. Behne, Benjamin J. Bialas, Megan E. Guthrie, Alicia M. Hinze, Jennifer L. Kopanic, Emily J. McIvor, Noelle M. Obermeyer, Brian T. Roy, Anna L. Speed, Cheyanne J. Swarthout, Amanda J. Timm and Emily I. Timm.
The April 11 symposia will feature the work of seniors Caleb W. Beasley, Molly P. Brennan, Fajr Cooperwood, Viviana Desmoineaux, Michelle L. Flint, John J. Herzinger, Heather L. Horst, Nicole R. Kobus, Jacob M. Matuzek, Stephen W. Osberg, Linden M. Prickett and Mona Sorouri.
2007 Faculty Honors Convocation
The Faculty Honors Convocation will be held Thursday, April 12, at 7 a.m. in the MBSC Ballroom. The recipients of the university's outstanding teaching, research and creative activity, mentoring, service-learning and distinguished professorship awards will be recognized
2007 Student Honors Convocation
The Student Honors Convocation will be held Friday, April 13, at 3 p.m. in the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The event recognizes outstanding undergraduate and graduate students with the presentation of a number of awards, including graduate scholarships, undergraduate major honorees, as well as deans', vice chancellor, service-learning and outstanding student athlete awards.
