Omaha — The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Women's Resource Center will present its second annual benefit production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues Friday through Sunday, Feb. 23-25.
The production, directed by Sonali Kumar, will be performed in the Eppley Administration Building Auditorium on the UNO Dodge Street campus. The house will open at 7 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. curtain for Friday and Saturday performances. On Feb. 25, the house will open at 3 p.m., with a 3:30 p.m. curtain. The Sunday performance will be followed by a talk-back session with the director, designers and cast.
This year, more than 1,150 communities around the world are hosting V-Day benefits to raise funds and awareness toward ending violence against women. These events raised more than $4 million last year through performances of Eve Ensler's award-winning play, The Vagina Monologues.
"Hot on the heels of their success, UNO has joined this global movement as part of the V-Day 2007 College Campaign," Kumar said. V-Day Omaha 2007 will benefit Siena/Francis House, an agency that provides a variety of services to protect children, help adults and strengthen families. Founded in Omaha in 1975, the agency serves thousands of families annually in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metropolitan areas.
UNO's benefit production of The Vagina Monologues is sponsored by the UNO Women's Resource Center. All proceeds benefit Siena/Francis House. Tickets are a suggested donation of $10 and may be purchased at the door, by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (402) 554-2730.
