Ecoutez! Continues Feb. 8 with Trombones de Costa Rica
Omaha - The 2006-07 Ecoutez! series at UNO will continue Thursday, Feb. 8, with a performance by the Trombones de Costa Rica. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.
Tickets will be available at the door and cost $15. All students are admitted free of charge with identification. The doors will open 30 minutes prior to each concert.Phone reservations for student tickets are recommended.
"Ecoutez! is committed to bringing the highest caliber of established performers and emerging artists to the metropolitan area," said Roger Foltz, a professor of music at UNO and coordinator of the series. The word "ecoutez" is French for "listen." KVNO Classical 90.7 FM is the media sponsor for the series.
Trombones de Costa Rica is one of the most innovative and virtuosic brass ensembles of the American continent. Their recordings - titled "Contrastes," "Imágenes" and "Trombonismos" - present a mix of standard classical and Costa Rican music. The quartet has traveled extensively throughout the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. It has performed with the U.S. Army Band, the Oregon State University Symphonic Band, the Carroll College Wind Ensemble, the University of Miami Wind Ensemble, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador, San José National Band, the Costa Rican National Symphony and the University of Costa Rica Wind Ensemble.
