UNO Announces Administrative Changes
Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) has announced several administrative transition changes. John Christensen, interim UNO chancellor, informed the university community by e-mail last week.
"These changes address the immediate needs of the campus and our constituents with the least amount of ripple effect into other campus operations," Christensen said. "Moreover, those involved in new or altered assignments have job specific experience, particular expertise and a history of working together. I have complete confidence that together we will continue to move the campus forward in the next few months."
UNO Chancellor Nancy Belck resigned on Sept. 12. University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken has indicated that a search will be organized in the near future, with the goal of filling the position prior to the beginning of the next academic year.
UNO administrative changes due to Christensen's appointment as interim Ccancellor include the following:
§ B.J. Reed will act in the role of executive associate to the chancellor and continue as dean for the College of Public Affairs and Community Service. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to work closely on behalf of the chancellor with the community, academic and administrative affairs, and athletics.
§ Sheri Rogers will serve as acting vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs.
§ Deb Smith-Howell has been promoted from assistant to associate vice chancellor for Academic Affairs.
