Rankings were based on peer assessment, freshman retention, graduation rate, class size, student/faculty ratio, percentage of full-time faculty, SAT/ACT scores, freshmen in top 25 percent of class, acceptance rate and alumni giving. The information was then checked by the U.S. News staff for accuracy and compiled into the America's Best Colleges rankings.
