UNO to Screen Documentary on Child Soldiers March 10
Omaha - Invisible Children," a documentary about child soldiers in two African countries will be shown Friday, March 10, at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) in the Nebraska Room of the Milo Bail Student Center. The university's Pan African Student Organization is coordinating the screening which begins at 10 a.m.
In recent years, children as young as eight-years-old have been forced to become soldiers in the rebel armies of Sudan and Uganda. An organization, Invisible Children, was established to follow these children and film their hardships.
At the start of February, the Invisible Children National Tour sent out seven Winnebago recreational vehicles to travel across the United States with the specific purpose of raising awareness about this situation, said Buey Jay Ruet, from UNO's Pan African Student Organization. The presentation in Omaha is a shortened version of the film. A time for discussion and questions will be held after the documentary. UNO students, faculty and staff and the public are welcome to attend this free event.
