UNO Library Friends to Host March 7 Presentation on Baseball and World War II
Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Library Friends will host a presentation featuring Steve Bullock, the author of Playing for Their Nation: Baseball and the American Military During World War II, Tuesday, March 7. The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in University Library, Room 100.
The book was published by the University of Nebraska Press in 2004.
Bullock joined UNO's Department of Political Science in 2005 after spending two years in the university's Department of History. His research and teaching interests include political thought of the Founding Era, U.S. Constitutional history and the intersection of politics and sport in the contemporary period.
He has written or edited several books, including Playing for Their Nation: Baseball and the American Military During World War I and a two-volume work, The Founding Principles of the United States, with Carson Holloway, a UNO assistant professor of political science. Bullock is currently working on a biography of Ty Cobb, which will be published by the University of Pennsylvania Press in 2008.
