PWSA at UNO to Host Eighth Annual Rites of Spring March 18
Omaha - The creative expression of older women throughout the Omaha area will be highlighted Saturday, March 18, at Rites of Spring, an annual celebration sponsored by the Program for Women and Successful Aging (PWSA) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
The event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the O'Keefe Elevator Company Gallery, 1402 Jones St. Artists Pat Davis and Sue Pickering will be featured. Tricia Currans-Sheehan, an English professor at Briar Cliff College, will be a special guest at the event. Her first book, a collection of short stories titled "The Egg Lady and Other Neighbors" has won the Headwaters Literary Competition Award. She will read the feature story of the collection and discuss aging and creativity.
The cost to attend is $15 per person and includes a copy of "Celebrate, A Collection of Women's Writings," a book of poetry and prose published by the PWSA. PWSA poets will also read current selections from the tenth issue of "Celebrate" during the event. Refreshments will be served.
