Honors Week Celebration Begins April 10 at UNO
Omaha – The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will celebrate the scholarship and academic achievements of outstanding students and faculty during Honors Week 2005.
The celebration kicks off Sunday, April 10, with the 2005 Student Honors Convocation. The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall on the UNO campus. It will honor, among others, the recipients of the Helen Hansen Outstanding Graduate Scholarships, the Vice Chancellor's Award, the Outstanding Leadership Award, the Deans' Awards, the undergraduate major honorees by college, the Outstanding Student Athlete Award and the Service-Learning Award.
Following the convocation, a reception will be held in the Milo Bail Student Center Ballroom.
Also on April 10, the first annual UNO Student Honors Recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The performers were selected by audition and represent the most talented music students at UNO. The recital is free and open to the public.
Some of the university's finest student research and creative activity will be showcased Wednesday, April 13, during the 2005 Senior Theses Symposium. Student presentations are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon and 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Ballroom.
Faculty excellence will be highlighted Thursday, April 14, at the 2005 Faculty Honors Convocation. The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Ballroom. It will honor the recipients of the 2005 University-wide Departmental Teaching Award, the Excellence in Teaching Award, the Alumni Outstanding Teaching Award, the Distinguished Research or Creative Activity Award, the Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award, the Outstanding Faculty Service-Learning Award and the 2005 Named Professorships.
