UNO to Host Seventh Annual Maverick Stampede Road Race April 24
Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will host the seventh annual Maverick Stampede Saturday, April 24. The 5K run/walk and 10K run will begin at 8 a.m. on the north side of Sapp Fieldhouse on the UNO campus. All races will finish on the stadium track.
The race was founded by John Noble, associate professor in the UNO School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Each year since 1999, the Organization and Administration of Physical Education class at UNO has used the Maverick Stampede as an opportunity to gain hands-on organizational skills while promoting fitness and physical activity in the community.
The entry fee is $18 per person. All participants who register before April 11 will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt. Individuals may register online at http://www.unomaha.edu/stampede.
Following the race, the Pancake Man will be serving free pancakes to all participants, and door prizes will be awarded.
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in designated age groups in the 10K and 5K runs. The age groups are as follows – 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70+.
