UNO to Host Public Forum on Alternative Energy Options for Nebraska April 16
Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will host a public information forum on alternative energy options for Nebraska Saturday, April 16. The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 1 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Ballroom on the UNO campus.
Discussion topics will include the growing need for alternative energies, the latest developments of alternative energy in Nebraska and legislation regarding the production of energy.
Scheduled speakers include:
Jon Traudt, National Standards Committee for Wind Turbine Generators;
Jon Iverson, senior resource planning engineer, Omaha Public Power District;
Rocky Plettner, environmental specialist, Nebraska Public Power District; and
Nebraska Sen. Don Preister, District 5.
The forum was organized by Students for Environmental Studies (SES) at UNO and is sponsored by the UNO Environmental Studies Program and the Inner-city Coalition on the Environment.
"National and international events have led to renewed interest in energy alternatives," said Larry Burks, president of SES at UNO. "With fuel prices at record levels, residents of the midlands have an opportunity to hear about and provide feedback concerning alternatives available now and what our options might be in the near future."
