Ecoutez! at UNO Concludes April 5 with Clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein
Omaha - The 2004-05 Ecoutez! series at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) concludes Tuesday, April 5, with a performance by clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall on the UNO campus.
This series is committed to bringing the highest caliber of established performers and emerging artists to the metropolitan area, said Roger Foltz, a professor of music at UNO and coordinator of the series. The word "ecoutez" is French for "listen." KVNO Classical 90.7 FM is the media sponsor for the series.
Born in Minsk in the former Soviet Union, Fiterstein emigrated with his family to Israel when he was two years old. He has studied at the Israel Arts and Science Academy and the Interlochen Arts Academy. Fiterstein received a bachelor's degree and a graduate diploma from The Juilliard School. He won first prize in the 2001 Carl Nielsen International Clarinet Competition and first prize in the 2001 Young Concert Artists International Auditions.
Scheduled to perform with Fiterstein is pianist Steven Beck. Beck is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where his teachers were Seymour Lipkin, Peter Serkin and Bruce Brubaker.
Tickets are $15 per person. All students are admitted free of charge with identification. Phone reservations for student tickets are recommended.
The doors will open 30 minutes prior to the concert.
