Celebration Set for Seven Days of Service Project

Omaha - The volunteer efforts of the third annual Seven Days of Service project will be celebrated Saturday, March 19, with an event set for the Lake Pointe Building, 24th and Lake streets, from 6 to 9 p.m.

More than 200 University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) students spent the week of UNO spring break, March 12-19, renovating and rehabilitating two houses that will become homes for low-income families.  Seven Days of Service is sponsored by Family Housing Advisory Services, UNO and the Wells Fargo Foundation.

"Seven Days of Service began as a dream with a small group of committed students in 2003 wanting to make a difference.  Today, in 2005, we see the strength and growing potential of students collaborating with non-profits and businesses to learn, strengthen and enhance our community," said Teresa Hunter, executive director of FHAS.  "A growing number of college students see the power in collaboration and, through that, the ability to effectively change the community."
