Opening Reception for UNO Art Student Exhibition March 4
Omaha - The Spring 2005 Art Student Exhibition opens Friday, March 4, at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). A reception will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the UNO Art Gallery. The event is free and open to the public.
This juried student exhibition is open to UNO students currently enrolled in studio art classes and taking six or more credit hours, including students in the Metropolitan Community College/UNO art program. The juror is Steve Elliott, assistant professor of art and design at Wayne State College. Elliott teaches sculpture, design, drawing, metalsmithing and electronic media.
College of Fine Arts, art history and art education majors are eligible for cash awards selected by the juror. These awards are presented at the opening reception and are made possible through the Bertha Mengedoht-Hatz Endowment. A price list is available, and most art in the exhibition is for sale.
The exhibition runs March 6 through April 1. It is closed March 13-20 in conjunction with spring break at UNO.
The UNO Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Weber Fine Arts Building. Admission is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 4 p.m., Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Excluding reserved stalls, UNO parking lots are free and open to visitors on Sunday afternoons.
