The third round of applications for space in the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center (CEC) are now available.
“Even though we anticipated great energy in the building, we’ve been pleased by how everyone who uses the CEC-- residents and visitors alike, have embraced the spirit of collaboration,” says Sara Woods, assistant to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Community Engagement and director of the CEC.
The current application due date for potential partnership space is September 12, 2014. Applications should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5 p.m.
Organizations seeking community partner space will need to complete a two-phased application process. First, a written application will be required, an interview between the applicant organization’s leadership and the CEC partner selection subcommittee will follow. University-based organizations (e.g., UNO colleges, departments, or student organizations) should complete the “UNO Organization Application.” Community-based organizations (nonprofit organizations, community collaborations, government initiatives, etc.) should complete the “Community Organization Application.” UNO and community applications are available here.
The CEC partner selection subcommittee has both community and campus representation. Subcommittee recommendations will be submitted to the Sr. Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs for final approval. Decisions for partners will be announced in late October 2014. After this initial application process, there will be a rolling deadline for applications throughout the year.
The CEC houses UNO and community-based organizations and is a nationally unique space that serves to strengthen UNO's existing outreach efforts, contributes positively to the metropolitan area’s quality of life, and fosters future opportunities for partnerships among the community and UNO students, faculty and staff. The CEC provides these organizations with the opportunity to work within the Center where they benefit from unique access to UNO faculty and student resources, proximity to other partner organizations, and the amenities within our state-of-the-art facility.
