From 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., all Blackburn Alternative Program students participating in P-16 Summer Service Learning projects will come together and host a “My North Omaha” Jeopardy game for a small group of North Omaha Boys and Girls Club students. Over the last few weeks of summer school, multiple classes at Blackburn, including Transportation, Astronomy, History, and Art have been working with Dr. Dennis Hoffman and Bryan Bubolz’s Criminal Justice students on researching and creating posters about various aspects of North Omaha. Mrs. Cathy Nelson’s English students, with the help of Dr. Travis Adams’ UNO consultants, have written articles and social media excerpts highlighting all of Blackburn Alternative Program’s summer Service Learning projects and constructed the Jeopardy game based upon information provided to them by the other classes.
From 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., the UNO Summer Scholars will be hosting a Career Expo. in the Community Engagement Center rooms 201-209. Students from various community programs, including ENCAP, North and South Girls Inc., and the South Omaha Boys and Girls Club, will visit UNO for the Expo, in addition to partaking in the various activities that UNO has to offer. It is encouraged that UNO personnel and community partners come and check out this awesome event!
