UNO has been recognized as a 2013 Tree Campus USA university for the fourth time since the inception in 2008.
Tree Campus USA was initiated by the Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota, which honors colleges and universities and their leaders for promoting healthy trees and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation.
- having a campus tree advisory committee
- a campus tree care plan
- a campus tree program with dedicated annual expenditures
- an Arbor Day observance, and
- a service learning project.
Kudos and a big thanks to the UNO Tree Campus Advisory Committee Members: Steve Rodie, Lowell Neuhaus, John Amend, Nate Steele & Angie Aday (arborists on UNO Landscape Services staff), Jennifer Peters (UNO graduate student), Stacy Hughes (Terry Hughes Tree Service) and Marci Lundhigh (Lanaha Nurseries), as well as the entire UNO Landscape Services team.
