A Message from the Chancellor
Over the last few weeks we have seen a series of tragic events both in our nation and abroad. The most recent - just last night in France.
Each heartbreaking case captured our nation’s attention, and rightly so.
They each reaffirm the vital importance of dialogue we so value here on campus. Our ability to discuss difficult subjects in a shared commitment helps to build a better, more peaceful future.
In that spirit, I’m writing about community, and what that word means to me.
Since our university’s founding, the story of our Maverick community has been about access, equality and opportunity. Know that I am dedicated to continuing that tradition, making sure UNO remains an inclusive campus.
That’s only possible if we all continue to support and lookout for one another. That is what a community does.
I am proud of the diversity in our community. Our vibrant campus is richer for the wide range of life experiences of our students, staffand faculty.
We need to make sure every voice on campus continues to be valued.
If your UNO experience has been anything less than supportive, know there are a number of resources in place.
- Our Office of Multicultural Affairs is dedicated to ensuring the success and inclusion of our students.
- Our Bias Assessment and Response Team responds to reports of bias incidents that have been experienced or witnessed. If needed file a report here.
- Our Title IX Coordinator responds to all complaints concerning sexual harassment or discrimination. More information on filing an online misconduct report.
- Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides programs and services on campus that assist students in maximizing their potential while at UNO.
- Our Gender and Sexuality Resource Center fosters equity, access and inclusion for all genders and sexualities.
- If you are ever concerned for your or others’ health and safety, please contact Public Safety immediately.
Thank you for all you do to create an inclusive, welcoming environment at UNO. It’s something we can only accomplish together.
