This weekend, three UNO students attended the regional business meeting of the Midwest Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (MACURH). Residence hall student leaders from across the seven-state region gathered to conduct the business of the organization, including passing legislation, voting on award bids, and hearing updates from the regional and national board of directors. There were approximately 30 institutions represented -- 130 student leaders and 30 advisors.
UNO was represented by a student delegation including: Nick Rieschl (Residence Hall Association (RHA) President), Nikki Preston (RHA Vice President and National Communications Coordinator), and Zech Craig (National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) President) – accompanied by RHA/NRHH Advisor Matt Nelson. These delegates represent the thirteen-member RHA board back on campus, made up of both Dodge and Pacific campus student leaders/residents.
Prior to this weekend’s conference in Rolla, Missouri, UNO’s RHA submitted two award bids to be considered. There was strong competition in both categories; however, we are pleased to share with you that both of UNO RHA’s award bids won this weekend!
- Nick Rieschl was nominated and won the “President of the Year” Award
- The UNO Residence Hall Association was nominated and won the “Building Block RHA of the Year” Award
A few images of the evening’s festivities, as well as the winning award bids can be found here.
Since the award winners were determined today during the business meetings, MACURH will engrave our plaques and send them to UNO later this month.
Additionally, both award bids will be forwarded to the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) to compete on the national level this summer.
